Step 1: Online Learning or Classroom Based Learning

The first step to getting your open water scuba diving certification in Regina is learning about diving. There are 2 different methods to do this. Traditionally this was done in a classroom setting with an instructor and text books and written tests. It is still possible to complete  your dive theory this way, however, the majority of people now take e-learning courses.

E-Learning courses allow you to acquire the knowledge you require to be a competent diver at your own pace in the comfort of your own home. There are knowledge reviews which you must pass in order to move on to the pool based learning. Both SDI and PADI offer very comprehensive E-Learning courses for Open Water Certifications and many other more advanced certifications.

Step 2: Skills Development In Pool

The next step is taking the knowledge you learned in your first segment into the pool and beginning the develop the skills necessary to be a scuba diver.

In this part of the course you will become familiar with all of the scuba diving equipment, you will learn how to do all of the fundamental skills that will allow you to be a safe and competent diver, and you will get a feel for what it is like to breathe underwater. This allows you a great opportunity to work on your skills in a safe environment under the close supervision of your instructor.

Step 3: Open Water Training Dives

The Open Water Training dives are where you get to start putting it all together. There is generally 4 dives done still under the close supervision of your instructor and you will now test your skills you learned in the pool based setting in an open water setting. This is the last step for you to show your instructor that you are a competent and safe diver so that they can certify you to explore the underwater world!

After your 4 open water dives, if you are successful you will be certified to dive recreationally all around the world!
